Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr. born September 27, 1982 in New Orleans, Lousiana!Dwayne Michael Carter Jr was born an only child (now has a younger brother) in the poverty-stricken and crime-ridden Hollygrove section of New Orleans, Louisiana, which is part of the 17th Ward. His biological father left him when he was an infant, and until the age of sixteen, Reginald “Rabbit” Carter was his stepfather.A native of New Orleans, Lil Wayne grew up in the Hollygrove section of town. Carter was in the gifted program at Lafayette Elementary School, and was in the drama club in middle school. As an aspiring young rapper, Wayne rapped at neighbour parties and it was at one of these parties that he was overheard by members of U.N.L.V., a group signed to Cash Money Records. Wayne was given contact information and followed up on them in a autograph signing session where he met the Cash Money CEOs Brian “Baby” Williams and Ronald “Slim” Williams.His freestyling abilities impressed the Williams brothers, but they didn’t sign him at first. 11-year old Wayne started to record freestyles on Baby’s answering machine and haunted Cash Money offices nearly every day. When Baby saw so much engagement in the young rapper, he soon signed him and hooked up with another newcomer Lil’ Doogie (who would later become famous as B.G.) to form group The B.G.’z. Group released their first and only album, True Story, in 1995. At the young age of 13, Wayne would drop out of school to fully pursue a rap career.

In 1997, Lil Wayne formed the group Hot Boyz along with rappers Juvenile, Turk, and B.G., Wayne being the youngest member. Hot Boys’ debut album, Get It How You Live, was released the same year. In 1998, the group’s major-label debut Guerrilla Warfare was released. Lil Wayne was also featured on the song “Back That Azz Up” by Juvenile

Wayne launched his solo career in 1999, with Tha Block Is Hot. Wayne later followed up his successful debut with the Gold selling albums Lights Out in 2000 and 500 Degreez in 2002, a reference to Juvenile’s 400 Degreez. In the summer of 2004 Wayne released Tha Carter. Often cited as a highlight of his career, Tha Carter gained Wayne significant recognition, selling 878,000 copies in the United States.2005, December 6 Lil Wayne released the new album Carter II. The album sold more then 238,000 copies in its first week of release, debuting at No. 2 on the Billboard Top 200 albums chart. The lead single “Fireman” became a hit on the Billboard hot 100.
